The plain-language version of what you're agreeing to by using Tiune.
Tiune is a macOS app that turns your speech into text. By downloading or using Tiune, you're agreeing to these terms. You'll need a free Google or Apple sign-in to use it, and everyday dictation on the free plan works completely offline once you're signed in. Plus and Pro are optional paid subscriptions that add features which cannot run on your own machine; you are never charged for anything unless you choose one.
You're free to install and use Tiune on Macs you own or control, for your own personal or professional work. Don't reverse-engineer, redistribute, or resell Tiune, and don't use it for anything illegal or to build a competing product from its code or models.
The paid plans are licensed to one person, not to a machine — install Tiune on as many of your own Macs as you like, but don't share an account with someone else. Enterprise plans are licensed per seat under a separate agreement.
Anything you dictate, anything Tiune writes back, and anything Tiune learns from your corrections belongs to you. Tiune doesn't claim any ownership over your words, and doesn't use them to train anything. See the Privacy page for exactly what stays on your computer, what leaves it on the paid plans, and who processes it.
Signing in with Google or Apple is required to use Tiune — it's what lets your vocabulary and corrections follow you to every Mac you use. It opens your system browser to Google or Apple directly, so Tiune never sees your password. Signing in is free and separate from dictation itself.
You're responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us at support@tiune.app. You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it at the same address.
What the plans are. The free plan is unlimited dictation on your own Mac, and stays free. Plus ($3 a month, or $30 a year) adds the AI cleanup pass and transformations. Pro ($11 a month, or $110 a year) adds cloud transcription in 90+ languages and priority support. Enterprise is priced and agreed separately.
Free trial. A paid plan may start with a free trial period, shown to you before you subscribe. A trial is one per machine: when you start one, Tiune sends us a salted, one-way hash of your machine's hardware id so we can tell whether that machine has trialled before — the underlying id never leaves your machine and the hash is used for nothing else. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. Buying a plan outright is never blocked by this, only a second free trial.
Billing. Subscriptions are billed through Stripe, which handles your card details directly — we never see or store a card number. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Account → Manage, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then the app returns to the free plan. Nothing you've dictated is deleted when a plan ends.
Refunds. If Tiune isn't what you expected, email us within 14 days of a charge and we'll refund it. Beyond that we'll consider refunds case by case, and we'll always refund a charge that was a mistake on our side. Nothing here affects statutory rights you have where you live, including any right to withdraw from a distance contract.
Price changes. If a price changes, the new one applies from your next renewal and we'll tell you before it takes effect, in time to cancel.
Complimentary plans. A plan we grant rather than sell has no subscription behind it, does not renew, and can be withdrawn at any time.
Plus and Pro include daily limits on the cloud features, sized so that ordinary heavy dictation never reaches them. They exist to stop automated or shared-account use from degrading the service for everyone else, not to ration normal work. If you hit a limit, cloud transcription and AI cleanup pause until the next day and dictation on your own Mac keeps working as normal.
Don't use the cloud features to process audio or text that isn't yours to process, to relay another product's traffic through them, or to try to extract or resell the underlying models.
Cloud transcription and AI cleanup are provided through third-party services. We name them on the Privacy page, and we may change which one we use — but only to a provider whose terms are consistent with the privacy commitments on that page. If one of them is unavailable, the affected feature may pause; dictation on your own Mac is unaffected, because it does not depend on them.
Tiune types into whatever app you have focused, and the AI cleanup pass rewrites what you said for clarity. Both are useful and neither is infallible: recognition can mishear you, and a rewrite can change emphasis in a way you did not intend. Read what Tiune produced before you send, sign, publish, or otherwise rely on it. Don't use Tiune as the sole author of anything where an error would be dangerous or irreversible.
You can stop using Tiune at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or that we're required to act on by law; if we do, we'll refund the unused part of a paid period unless the account was suspended for abuse.
Tiune is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. Speech recognition and cleanup are never perfect — always review dictated text before sending or relying on it somewhere it matters.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Tiune isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability where it can't legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If these terms change in any meaningful way, this page will be updated and the date below will change. Where a change affects a paid plan, we'll tell subscribers before it takes effect. Continuing to use Tiune after an update means you accept the revised terms.
